The “40 Under 40” campaign now in its second year aims to reveal some of the standout talent in the Indian alternative investments industry across different verticals like fund management, advisory, operations, compliance, consulting, technology, marketing, product design and fund raising.

The inaugural edition of the “40 under 40” campaign was a huge success with more than 180 nominations received during the campaign. An illustrious Jury decided on the final list of 40 winners who were felicitated during the 5th annual Alternative Investments Summit India on January 24, 2018 in Mumbai.
The nominees should exhibit identifiable accomplishment at a young age as well as promising future prospects. He / she should also be under the age of 40 as on May 1, 2019.
We are looking for the best and brightest of the Indian Alternative Investments community under the age of 40. If you know someone who is well-rounded and contributes to their industry and community, we would like you to introduce us.
The nominees will be considered by jury based on the following criteria:
Please nominate your pick of the most promising professional / influencer in the alternative investments industry by December 20, 2018 after which the nomination process will end and no further submissions will be considered. The nominees will be vetted by the IAAIF team and final selection will be made by the distinguished Jury for inclusion in a special report publishing on January 16, 2019 during the 6th annual Indian Alternative Investments Summit in Mumbai.
Qualifications: The only requirement when nominating someone is that they must be under 40 years of age as of May 1, 2019 and must reside in India.
A person can also nominate himself/herself. The nominee will receive a questionnaire once the nomination period closes. Additionally, though not required, nominees will be encouraged to submit two letters of recommendation and a resume showing why they are deserving of this honor at the time the questionnaire is due.
Selection method: Winners will be chosen by an illustrious Jury. Candidates will be evaluated based on professional accomplishments, contribution, leadership, qualification and other exemplary qualities.
All 40 honorees will be recognized during the 6th annual Indian Alternative Investments Summit on January 16, 2019.

Mr. Desai has substantial experience in the Fund sector, advising perhaps the largest number of offshore investment funds. He has advised the Small Industries Development Board of India and the Department of Electronics, Government of India, on their domestic venture capital fund. He is the Chairperson of Taxation Committee of LAWASIA and a senior country correspondent for “Tax Notes International”, US. He is a member of the International Bar Association, American Bar Association, Inter Pacific Bar Association, LAWASIA, International Tax Planning Association, and Supreme Court Bar Association. In November 2004, he was ranked as No. 28 in a global Top 50 “Gold List”. Mr. Desai also holds a special license from the State Bar of California to practice Indian law.

M.Thenmozhi is the Director of the National Institute of Securities Markets (NISM), an educational initiative of the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI), is on deputation from Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Madras.
M.Thenmozhi is a Professor in Finance in the Department of Management Studies of Indian Institute of Technology Madras, India. She obtained her Doctorate from University of Madras and is a researcher and teacher in the area of finance for more than 28 years. She was formerly working as faculty in the Department of Management Studies of Anna University. She has international teaching/research experience with UPM, Madrid, University of Passau, Germany, Lagos Business School, Nigeria, QUT, Brisbane and San Diego State University, US.
She is an Executive Endeavour fellow of the Australian Government and a recipient of Fulbright-Nehru Visiting Lecturer Fellowship and European Union Erasmus Mundus Scholarship. She is a National Award winner for developing the best manufacturing policy draft for India from the former Prime Minister Shri. Atal Bihari Vajpayee at the National Manufacturing Sector Policy Competition organized by the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI) and We Think for India(WTI) Forum. She is a recipient of EXIM Bank Chair Professorship in finance offered by Indian Council for Cultural relations, Ministry of External affairs, Government of India.
Her areas of interest are: Corporate Finance and Strategy, Financial Markets, Computational Finance, Forecasting and Time Series Modelling, Stock and Commodity Derivatives. Her research has been primarily in the domain of corporate finance, market microstructure and financial time series modelling. She primarily works on price discovery and volatility spill over in stock market, bond market and commodity market. She has done series of work pertaining to developing hybrid models to predict stock prices and has explored the linkage of ETFs, Mutual Funds and FII flows to stock market. In recent years, she has been looking at why Indian firms are holding huge liquid cash and explore if Diversification, Promoter Ownership, Duality and Board composition impacts cash holding decisions, Institutional ownership and value creation. She has developed a validated framework to evaluate the impact of IT investment in banking sector from users perspective, developed a financial stability index and examined its transmission across global markets.
Currently, she has been working on exploring the determinants of US corporate liquidity using Flow of Funds, Governance of group and family firms, liquidity and market efficiency of Commodity Market, Geopolitical, Corruption and economic freedom impact on Cross border Mergers and Acquisitions and impact of SEBI governance norms on firm value and performance. She has won several best research awards for her research work both at the national and international levels and has published several research papers in journals like Emerging Market Review, Research in International Business and Finance, Neural Computing and Applications, Management Decision, International Journal of Banking, Accounting and Finance, International Journal of Emerging Markets, Decision, IIMB Management Review and Journal of Emerging Market Finance.
