Tejesh Chitlangi is a Partner with IC Universal Legal and heads the Firm’s Financial Services & Funds Practice in Mumbai. He has assisted in setting up of some of the biggest offshore and Indian Investment Fund structures. Under his leadership, the Firm for past several years has continued to enjoy the leadership position in Indian asset management/alternative fund space, by maintaining more than 25% share (100+ AIFs out of nearly 400 AIFs registered with SEBI) in the AIF space, whilst also advising majority of Top 10 Indian mutual fund asset management companies.
In addition, under his leadership the Firm has also been credited as the top Indian law firm in terms of number of SEBI (India’s securities markets regulator) registrations across the intermediary space. He has also negotiated several PE/VC & M&A deals, with a primary focus on financial services sector. He holds a B.B.A. LL.B. (Hons.) from National Law University, Jodhpur with specialization and top ranking in corporate and securities laws.
Tejesh has been featured as one of the Top 5 Indian Funds’ lawyers (second year in a row), for year 2017 and now for year 2018, by Who’s Who Legal, a UK based leading international publication. He also features in the list of India’s Top 20 lawyers in Private Equity space by world’s top law firm ranking agency “Chambers & Partners”. He is also recognized as one of the most quoted securities and financial services lawyer in Indian business papers.
